Summary

Currently, the only search engine that I know of that supports this type of functionality is Yahoo. Google, apparently, does not yet honor this tag.

Anyway, the way to do this (as per the original document) is to use the class="robots-nocontent" tag, as follows:

<div class="robots-nocontent">See 1 below</div>

<span class="robots-nocontent">See 2 below</span>

<p class="robots-nocontent">See 3 below</p>

<div class="robots-nocontent">See 4 below</div>
  1. This is the navigational menu of the site and is common on all pages. It contains many terms and keywords not related to this site
  2. This is the site header that is present on all pages of the site and is not related to any particular page
  3. This is a boilerplate legal disclaimer required on each page of the site
  4. This is a section where ads are displayed on the page. Words that show up in ads may be entirely unrelated to the page contents
